The history is a humble beginning of Anjappar Chettinadu Military Hotel in Royapettah High Road, Chennai, South India in the year 1965. The word Chettinadu Hotel was coined by its founder Mr.Anjappar. Thus Anjappar Hotel became the pioneer in "Chettinadu food".

Mr.Anjappar, the founder of this restaurant, hailed from the famous Chettinad area in the

South Indian

state Tamil Nadu. He introduced to the Hotel Industry, the exclusive taste of Chettinad varieties, which attracted taste hunters. The concept of outdoor catering too was launched then.

Many franchises were opened and are operating successfully in Chennai (Madras), the capital city of southern Indian state Tamil Nadu. The Anjappar group has become international in recent years and franchises were opened in Dubai, Malaysia, US and now in Canada.
